How LivingBanners Work
Anyone can buy a LivingBanner. It’s easy! Browse our designs and choose the one that reflects the situation and your feelings. When you order, we will ship a high-quality banner in that design to the recipient. We will also send you a link by e-mail to a personalized web page with the same banner. From there, you can add messages, and invite others to visit.
In 1984, Millie Northcott established her own company, making high-quality banners for retail and banking point of purchase. At the time, one of her hobbies was bicycling; she even rode in many century-length events. But establishing and running a business demanded much of her time, so she focused on her work and family.
Several years later, Millie met a friend through church who was an avid amateur cyclist. The friend, Mary Tyler, encouraged Millie to start riding again. In 2004, when Mary Tyler developed ovarian cancer, she asked Millie to ride with her in a Lance Armstrong Foundation fund-raiser. Before the ride, Mary became too ill to participate, so Millie rode alone in support of her friend. Mary died later that same year.
Since then, Millie has continued to ride, and in doing so met many cancer patients, survivors, and supporters. She has been inspired by their determination to overcome fear, and awed by the remarkable communities they have built to support each other. Riding with Cyclists Combating Cancer (CCC), Millie was impressed both by the importance of team support and by the caring and comfort shared between individuals.
With LivingBanners, Millie combines her professional expertise with her personal passion. LivingBanners.com combines beautiful banners with personalized web pages. Each web page provides a way for friends and family members, no matter where they are, to share their good wishes with people in times of need; and each banner serves as a constant reminder of hope and courage from their community of support.
